I saw this as a flash of blue on a grey day. It is a runabout, possibly left as an emergency way to get across the inlet. Maybe it is simply abandoned to the weeds and weather, a forgotten element in someone’s summer. Maybe it is sculpture or a reference to Moses and the Nile . Whatever, the color caught my eye and the story filled in as I was shooting it. Less a story and more like possibilities I suppose, but then again, that seems to be the way it is for me when I have a camera and nothing I need to shoot for someone else.
I was looking at it later when I realized that I thought it looked better in black and white. I think that it leaves more to the imagination, a complicated idea for me. I’ll have to think more about that. I didn’t see it in black and white. It was the color that pulled my eye to it. But I think it must be the story that drives my inclination to publishing it in black and white. What do you think?
